my discord with Discord...
WARNING: WHINY RAMBLINGS AHEAD
as of the day before i wrote this post (feb 9), i have officially parted ways with Discord and opted to communicate entirely on Matrix instead.
their insistence on implementing features which work to identify and guess things about its users which is absolutely none of their business, the imminent IPO, annoying nags about Nitro, Orbs, Quests, etc., and the complacency of the people that are choosing to stick with the platform has all boiled up to the platform becoming insanely intolerable to me, and since i didn’t have much to lose anyways, i bailed. the writing is on the wall for Discord’s future.
unfortunately, there are some people who i was still talking to over there that did not appear to be eager to switch. mabye me dumping the platform will encourage them to at least give an alternative a fighting chance, and if they don’t then i hope they enjoy bouncing between VC-funded propriatery garbage until the end of time…
it’s a mean and cold way to go about things, i know, but doing things this way appears to be the best for my own sanity, and i simply cannot pretend like this doesn’t matter to me anymore because it does, lol.
